Skardu is the capital of the Skardu District in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan province. Skardu is located at an elevation of about 2,500 metres at the junction of the Indus and Shigar Rivers in the Skardu Valley, which is 10 kilometres broad and 40 kilometres long.
Skardu is a prominent climbing and mountaineering destination all over the world. Skardu is also home to K2, Pakistan’s highest peak and the world’s second tallest mountain (8,611 m). Moreover, the scenery, history, culture, and hospitality of the locals draw millions of visitors throughout the year.
