Faisalabad, historically Lyallpur, is Pakistan’s third-largest city and the province’s second-largest in eastern Punjab. It has long ago evolved into a cosmopolitan city, has been one of British India’s earliest planned cities.
The districts of Hafizabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh surround Faisalabad in the north and west, respectively. It is bordered on the east by Sheikhupura and on the south by the Ravi River, which runs through Okara. The district covers 5856 square kilometers of land.
