Chitral is the district capital of Chitral, which is located in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on the Chitral River. Chitral was also the capital of the princely state of Chitral until 1947.
Chitral, in the north, is separated from Tajikistan by a tiny boundary known as the Wakhan Corridor. Chitral is well-known for its natural beauty, local simplicity, and unique culture. Within the Hindukush range, it is the most lovely and fascinating spot.
The Chitral and Kalash Valleys are widely regarded as safe Pakistani areas. To my knowledge, no guests have ever faced security threats there. Since last summer, all foreign visitors to the Chitral area are required to be escorted by an armed police officer for the duration of their stay. This includes the Kalash Valleys.
