Batura Trek

Batura, Karakoram’s most open and fourth-longest glacier, stretches 56 kilometres west of the KKH. The trek’s spectacular scenery includes 14 peaks over 7000 metres and gigantic ice floes that fall from the Batura Wall to a glacier over 4000 metres. The trip takes you through ablation valleys and along streams for the most part. It allows for gradual acclimation with few steep sections and poses no substantial obstacles. Even the trek’s two glacier crossings are rather easy. Trekkers also get a glimpse of the Passu people’ unique way of life, as they care livestock in the summer pastures along the north side of the glacier.
