Tharparkar, often known as Thar, is a district in Pakistan’s Sindh province. The district is Sindh’s largest and boasts Pakistan’s largest Hindu population. It has the lowest Human Development Index score among Sindh’s districts. Its headquarters are located in Mithi.
Sindh, Pakistan’s southernmost province, is home to the world’s only fertile desert. The Tharparkar Desert runs until it meets the Cholistan Desert in the southeastern section of Punjab. Tharparkar District is the largest of Sindh’s 29 districts.
