Buddhist Sights in Gilgit Baltistan

GB remained the center of Buddhism and many remains of religion exist from Tibet to the Diamer district.

Each year, a considerable number of tourists from Japan, China, and Korea visit the area to perform religious rites at their respective sacred sites.
It is about ten kilometers east of Gilgit.
It is a carved image of a huge, standing Buddha in Kargha  Nala’s cliff-face.
The carving, which is also found in a style in Baltistan, possibly dates back to the 7th century.
The elevation is 50 ft.
According to local legend, the figure is a man-eating giant or a witch that harassed locals until being sent to the cliff by a pair (holy/pious man).
