Hasan Abdal is an ancient town situated 45 kilometers from Rawalpindi to the mountain’s western \sside. The place is hilly. There are several places which have natural fountains. Usually, saintly people \stake up residence there. Wali Qandhari erected a celebrated dera near a natural waterfall in Hasan Abdal. The dera was created with the intention of blessing believers and punishing unbelievers. Guru Nanak and Bhai Mardana met Hasan Abdal in Baisakh.
During Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s reign Gurudwara Panja (lit. palm) was created as Sahib.
It was held by a line of mahants till it was taken over by Jathedar Kartar Singh Jhabbar and his small band of Akali Reformers on the 17th and 18th of September 1920.
